There was a book by two American researchers who went into the Soviet Union in the late 1970's to study parapsychology this book was revealing for several reasons. One it showed how corrupt and totalitarian the Soviet Jewion was. You couldn't even drive to other towns without special permission from the government. And most people were afraid to say anything in general without permission from the regime. For good reasons.
