Our pets are family—not food. ('We are but caretakers of Our Home, EARTH ! ' Walter Darre chfdeslndsmnschftdesNSDAP 1928 The treatment MAN-kind shows to animals is merely a lower lever indication of how some 'MEN' view, would treat Hu-manity, with DISDAIN!' CDHerrington chairmannsfm@yahoo.com)

Yet in 44 states, it is still shockingly legal to slaughter cats and dogs for human consumption.

Animals deserve better—and a new bipartisan bill in the House would finally protect them. Once passed, the historic Dog and Cat Meat Trade Prohibition Act (H.R. 1406) will ban the slaughter of dogs and cats across the country. Isn't that the least we can do to stand up for our beloved companions and family members?
It's up to Humane Society Legislative Fund supporters like you to turn this life-saving bill into a law. We need Congress to hear from us now, to make sure our lawmakers don't ignore this bill!

Please show your furry friends that you love them: Tell your representative to support the Dog and Cat Meat Trade Prohibition Act!

It is more common in South Korea, Vietnam, Indonesia, and China, where millions of innocent dogs and cats needlessly perish each year, including at the horrific annual "Yulin Dog Meat Festival."

Our friends at Humane Society International are working tirelessly with local partners in those countries to ban the dog and cat meat trade worldwide. Their job will be far easier if we ban the deadly practice here in the United States, just as Thailand, Hong Kong, the Philippines, and Taiwan have already done. That means that passing the Dog and Cat Meat Trade Prohibition Act here in the U.S. could ultimately help save pets all around the world.

This important legislation would amend the federal Animal Welfare Act to prohibit the slaughter, trade, and import/export of dogs and cats for human consumption. The bill would also provide penalties for individuals involved in the dog or cat meat trade.

Best of all, the legislation is bipartisan, introduced by Reps. Alcee Hastings, D-Fla., Vern Buchanan, R-Fla., Dave Trott, R-Mich., and Brendan Boyle, D-Pa.That means this bill actually has a chance to break through the Washington gridlock—but only if we speak out now.

Even bipartisan bills can languish in committee if Congress thinks the public isn't watching. Make sure the House knows this bill is a priority—tell your representative to ban the dog and cat meat trade at once!

Thank you, When you speak out, your representatives really do notice.
