The proposed guidelines, which address issues such as the detection of hate speech, effective removal and the prevention of its reappearance, will act as a sounding board for the EU when it considers future instances of illegal content. If things go wrong for a company, the EU can use the guidance as proof that it's not toeing the line. If the company repeatedly messes up, the guidance means the EU has the power to implement binding laws on the matter. A video that shows a California man being shot to death by a Huntington Beach police officer has been doing rounds on social media since the incident took place on Sept. 22. Angela Merkel told supporters in Berlin: "Of course we had hoped for a slightly better result. But we mustn't forget that we have just completed an extraordinarily challenging legislative period, so I am happy that we reached the strategic goals of our election campaign," Merkel said.
"We are the strongest party, we have the mandate to build the next government - and there cannot be a coalition government built against us," Merkel added.
Martin Schulz, SPD party leader and chancellor candidate, told ZDF broadcaster: "We cannot have an extreme right-wing party leading the opposition in Germany, therefore ... we will go into opposition." He added: "Our role is quite clear: we are the opposition part."
Schulz told supporters in Berlin that this election was a "bitter day" for Germany's Social Democrats, adding: "Especially depressing for all of us is the strength of the AfD, which for the first time brings a right-wing party into German parliament in such a strong position. German voters went to the polls on Sunday for a general election which is almost guaranteed to return Angela Merkel as Chancellor for a fourth term, though the vote risks being overshadowed by a surge in support for the far-right AfD.
Alternative fur Deutschland (Afd) is projected up to 13 per cent of the vote, according to some pollsters, which could result in a far-right party entering the German parliament for the first time in more than a half a century.

The monument in the heart of Moscow was supposed to be a tribute to Mikhail Kalashnikov, the creator of the AK-47 assault rifle.
Unfortunately, things went wrong, spectacularly so. The etching on the plinth was not of a Kalashnikov but the StG 44 rifle used by the Nazis during WWII.
The mistake was spotted by arms experts, the BBC reported. It left the authorities having to use an angle grinder to remove the offending image.

Kiev (AFP) - Ukraine on Friday expressed disappointment after the president of Romania said he would not travel to the ex-Soviet country next month in protest over a bill that obliges schools to teach in the Ukrainian language only.
Romanian President Klaus Iohannis said the bill "drastically limits" the access of minorities to education in their native language, adding that the cancellation of his visit is a "very strong signal."
A Ukrainian foreign ministry spokeswoman confirmed that the visit had been cancelled.
"We are disappointed that the Romanian side doesn't want the leaders to have dialogue," she told AFP.
The draft law has been approved by the Ukrainian parliament but President Petro Poroshenko has yet to sign off on it.

An Arizona mother spoke out against her son’s 4th-grade teacher having students recite an altered version of the Declaration of Independence in class, reported Arizona ABC-affiliate KNXV Wednesday.
The Salk Elementary School teacher replaced the word “men” with “humans” whenever it appeared in the Declaration. The mother, Elizabeth Vaillancourt, posted about the teacher’s actions on her Facebook account, including a photo of the altered Declaration of Independence. In one of the comments, she also provided the number of the superintendent Mr. McCord and encouraged people to contact him and complain.
“Zev’s teacher has this hanging in the classroom can anyone guess what’s wrong with this picture?”
When Vaillancourt aired her grievances with the school, administrators told her she hurt the teacher’s feelings by posting about the incident on social media. The school removed Vaillancourt’s son from the teacher’s class and the sign was taken down.
After Vaillancourt posted on Facebook, she was contacted by a member of the ABC15 team for an interview about the situation. Gov. Jerry Brown of California is poised to sign a worrisome bill that will codify the Obama-era sexual assault guidelines. Those rules told colleges to toughen up on sexual assault allegations or risk losing federal dollars.
California’s law explicitly applies to children in public kindergarten, elementary and high schools. So a first grader could face dire consequences if found to have committed an act of “sexual violence,” which is broadly defined to include any “physical sexual acts perpetrated against a person” without their consent.
California lawmakers quickly passed the bill last week after Education Secretary Betsy DeVos announced on Sept. 7 that she will roll back the guidelines set forth by the Obama administration in 2011. Survivors of sexual assault and their advocates, including those in the California legislature, roundly denounced Ms. DeVos’s decision. But many others, including progressives and feminists who are no fans of the Trump administration, tentatively clapped their hands. - Black students are more than three times as likely to be suspended than their white counterparts, according to a report by the Department of Education’s Office of Civil Rights. Sixteen percent of black students enrolled in K-12 schools were suspended from 2009 to 2012, but only 5 percent of white students were, the Civil Rights Project at U.C.L.A. found.

For more than 130 years, Margarethenhütte manufactured ceramic insulators for power lines, which by 1991 it sold everywhere from Sweden to South Africa. I just want to mention, the extreme flooding and disastrous weather is a result of the powerful eclipse that occurred on the 21st of August.
I have read astrology books that have it wrong in regards to the elements and signs.
Like invoking elements can create a backlash of the opposite element, with a bit of research, I have found the same with eclipses.

In a handwritten letter filed with the 4th Circuit Court of Appeals in Richmond, Virginia on Monday and obtained by Buzzfeed, Roof claimed it was “impossible” for him to “trust” his court-appointed attorneys, Alexandra Yates and Sapna Mirchandani, who he identified as Jewish and Indian respectively, and described them as his “political and biological enemies.”
Because of their race, he wrote, it was “quite literally impossible that they and I could have the same interests relating to my case.”
Roof, 23, killed nine people at Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston, South Carolina during a 2015 shooting rampage. He later said he’d hoped the slayings would ignite a race war.
In December, Roof was convicted in federal court of 33 hate crime charges related to the shooting. He was sentenced to death for his crimes.
According to the Post and Courier, Yates and Mirchandani were appointed to Roof’s case after the sentencing. The attorneys are now working to appeal his death sentence.
In his recent petition, Roof requested that Yates and Mirchandani be dismissed from his defense team and “replaced.”
“I am confident after meeting my current attorneys that they will be unable to represent me in an efficient manner,” he wrote, noting that he had clashed with his former attorney, the renowned death penalty lawyer David Bruck, who is Jewish.
Bruck’s “ethnicity was a constant source of conflict even with my constant efforts to look past it,” Roof wrote.

According to the Post and Courier, Yates and Mirchandani were appointed to Roof’s case after the sentencing. The attorneys are now working to appeal his death sentence.
In his recent petition, Roof requested that Yates and Mirchandani be dismissed from his defense team and “replaced.”
“I am confident after meeting my current attorneys that they will be unable to represent me in an efficient manner,” he wrote, noting that he had clashed with his former attorney, the renowned death penalty lawyer David Bruck, who is Jewish.
Bruck’s “ethnicity was a constant source of conflict even with my constant efforts to look past it,” Roof wrote.

The annual conference call, a tradition instituted by President Barack Obama to mark Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, has typically drawn leaders from across American Jewish denominations. This year, the weeks leading up to the call exposed a fracture between liberal American Jews who are critical of the president, and their more conservative counterparts who are interested in keeping a line of communication open with the White House.
Leaders in the Reform, Conservative and Reconstructionist movements boycotted the virtual meeting, citing the president’s initialclaim that neo-Nazis and their counterprotestors were both responsible for the violence that erupted at a white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia in August. SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Federal agents were tracking a young immigrant who was facing deportation when he fatally shot a popular community volunteer during a robbery in San Francisco, authorities said Friday.
The slaying occurred on Aug. 15, four days after sheriff's investigators say 18-year-old Erick Garcia-Pineda stole the murder weapon from the personal car of a San Francisco police officer.
The case has stirred memories of the 2015 killing of a young woman on a San Francisco pier by a Mexican national who had been deported five times. A gun stolen from a law enforcement officer was also used in that shooting.

President Trump echoed anti-immigration groups Friday morning when he suddenly condemned any new immigration policy that would allow “chain migration.”
“CHAIN MIGRATION cannot be allowed to be part of any legislation on Immigration!” he exclaimed.
Trump was referring to an immigration-policy concept allowing immigrants to sponsor nonnuclear family members causing migration surge. Critics of liberal immigration policies argue that one immigrant will sponsor several others who in turn sponsor even more.
Heidi Beirich, the director of the South Poverty Law Center’s (SPLC) Intelligence Project, told Yahoo News, that “chain migration” is a phrase “from the anti-immigrant world.” It is popular among groups that want to reduce legal immigration levels like the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR), the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS) and NumbersUSA.

A St. Loius man sped through a group of Black Lives Matters protestors in a large SUV Thursday. The driver moved rapidly through the crowd as he honked his horn, which led protestors to quickly scatter throughout the streets of St. Louis suburb Kirkwood.
The protest was organized to raise awareness for the trial of St. Louis police officer Jason Stockley, who was acquitted on charges of intentionally killing Anthony Lamar Smith. Some protestors held up a large banner that read "Convict Killer Cops #JasonStockley," whereas many others raised signs that said "Black Lives Matter." All protestors unified in chant, saying, "Stand up! Fight back!"
The gathering appeared to be under control until the driver grew impatient of waiting in protest traffic and drove off into the crowd. Thirty-two people were arrested, the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department said. Ten officers were injured -- 9 St. Louis Police Department officers and one Missouri Highway Patrol officer -- two of whom were transported to a hospital with injuries sustained after being hit by a brick.
